Join me in Holding Space for a World of Change

Published over 2 years ago • 3 min read

Happy 2022 Reader,

I hope the energy of the Gregorian calendar is one of hope and potential as we continue to co-create a post-pandemic reality, in our imaginations, if anywhere, at this moment.

I invite you to join me in the following events as we practice just this:

Ashtanga Intersections: Racism as a Spiritual Obstacle

Join Wambui Njuguna-Räisänen (
@wellnesswithwambui) and Kino MacGregor (@kinoyoga) on January 16th at 10am ET/5pm Helsinki time, along with a panel of experienced teachers on online discussion that covers the intersection between race and spirituality within the context of Ashtanga Yoga.

This event will be by donation and there is no minimum donation required! All the proceeds will be donated to National Campaign on Dalit Human Rights (
@dalit_rights_ncdhr) and Kalief Browder Foundation (@kaliefbrowderfoundation).

At this event, you will explore how we can begin to show up for hard, uncomfortable conversations that this tenuous time invites us into. We invite you to join this in-depth discussion with a team of well-respected thought leaders and teachers!

The panelists will also include Prachi Patankar, Shanna Small (
@wellness_yogini), Kira Williams (@kirasadhana), and Marcos Silva (@yoganafederal) in conversation facilitated by Ro Averin of UNLRN PRJCT (@unlrnprjct).

New Online Event: Black and Brown Solidarity in Yoga Land

January 24, 2022; 12:30-2:30PM EST on Zoom

Join Jesal, Tejal, Michelle and Wambui in an intimate panel discussion around how we can practice active solidarity as Black and South Asian members of the global yoga community. We’ll delve into questions that aren’t afforded space to breathe when whiteness is in the room. Questions like:

  • What is anti-blackness? Who upholds it and employs it?
  • What does true, active, risky solidarity look like?
  • What are we dreaming for ourselves as we heal in community?

This is an OPEN event for people of all identities to join in the conversation and active divestment from intersecting systems of oppression, within the context of healing and wellness.

Dreaming a kinder better world for all of us to flourish in needs all hands on deck!

Are you struggling to engage with others from the wisdom of your whole Self?

Are you having a hard time staying present and curious in an endlessly changing world?

You’re not alone!

I’m speaking at The Power of Meditation Summit( January 15-24), a beautiful exploration of dharma teachings and practices to help you sustain fortitude and grace through cycles of change. Learn to hold space for yourself and others with a group of brilliant and renowned healers, neuroscientists, yogis, meditation teachers, and social justice activists. Discover how meditation can help you tap into your capacity for compassionate presence and source change from the wisdom of the true Self.

Welcome to the photo exhibition Big Dreams - stories about Finns who change the world and celebrate the opening of the photo exhibition on February 1, 2022 at Gallery Art Kaarisilla in Helsinki (Sanomatalo, 1st floor Elielinaukio) .

The exhibition tells about the career stories of Finnish influencers and how unique everyone's career path is. One thing unites all the stories: they tell of people who have made their dreams come true. Among other things, they have written books, studied to be doctors, become elected MPs, set up businesses and spoke at major events. Through their activities, they have changed the world, for example, by promoting equality, increasing understanding and helping other people directly.

The exhibition Big Dreams - Stories of Finns Changing the World can be viewed at Galleria Art Kaarisilla in Helsinki from February 1 to February 6, 2222. The event can accommodate 50 participants in order of registration.

See you around the Interwebs, beloved Reader.

Stay safe.

With love,

Wambui ❤️

Dear Reader, We hope the start of the Spring season has brought you ease and much self-kindness and self-compassion. While it would be understandable to simply wish for positivity about the state of the world, the truth is, this would be an expression of what trauma specialist, Dr. Peter Levine, calls " Bliss bypass as a trauma response." There is so much sustained, ongoing grief and harm being experienced and witnessed in the world, as multiple genocides continue to be waged. This...

Hello Reader, With the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, the social media streets have been abuzz with various nuanced and complex (as well as not so nuanced, not so complex) perspectives around the long legacy of the British monarch. At the end of this newsletter, I'll share with you two videos I find quite useful around navigating the complexity surrounding many of those who have been affected by the legacy of colonization. I myself am a product of both sides of the equation, coming from an...
