✌🏽Let's Catch Up πŸ™πŸ½

Dear Reader,

As we ease into the second half of 2021, I find myself, amidst all the flavors and dualities of life, seeking refuge in the following phrases:

May I trust my own goodness.

May I see the goodness in others.

I offer that you take a moment, right now, to slow down enough to take three rounds of breath as you repeat this mantra. I'll do it with you...Ready?

Inhale: May I trust my own goodness

Exhale: May I see the goodness in others

(Repeat two more times)

There. What do you notice now? :) A simple action like this, done whenever I remember, helps slow me down and bring me back into the present moment with a bit more sense of spaciousness; some trust in grace.

Now onto the running of an online business :)

This Sunday, August 22, I'll be teaching a lecture entitled Taking Refuge: A Return to Ubuntu for Greg Nardi's Ashtanga Yoga Worldwide 300 Hour Yoga Teacher Training. It's an honor to be part of a line-up with such progressive, forward-thinking teachers, educators and practitioners.

Three women presenting people are in yoga postures; four people are looking at the camera and smiling; two are smiling while looking away from the camera lens. A round graphic with two triangles as a logo reads Ashtanga Yoga Worldwide (the text is white and the background is red)

I was a guest on Adam Keen's podcast recently. We had a tender conversation on how we might cultivate softer spaces, especially at the intersection of honoring our shared humanity while keeping it real around the topic of systemic oppression, in all its forms.

Lastly, I received some heart-warming testimonials recently. Here's what Sarah has to say about my meditation album and being a member of my Patreon community:

"I recommend Wambui’s Meditation Album to anyone who is feeling overwhelmed by their thoughts or by life and wants to start a meditation practice. Wambui’s guided meditation is like a good friend navigating whatever inner landscape you have, together. As someone who fears the night, I especially enjoy the meditation for just before going to sleep."

"Being part of Wambui’s patreon brings me much joy, peace and a deepened practice. I learn from each session, no matter what we are up to (and it ranges from dancing in celebration to sitting meditation!). Wambui holds a space for community to explore the challenging questions, to not flee discomfort and ultimately to hold hands as we each move towards healing and liberation. I am so grateful to be a part of this community."

Thank you for your support, Sarah ❀️

That's it from me, dear Reader. I'm still on break from the Instagram and Facebook streets, and I must say, I'm enjoying every minute of it. You can find me here in my inbox and, of course, at my monthly Patreon gathering.

Much love,

Wambui ❀️

Dear Reader, We hope the start of the Spring season has brought you ease and much self-kindness and self-compassion. While it would be understandable to simply wish for positivity about the state of the world, the truth is, this would be an expression of what trauma specialist, Dr. Peter Levine, calls " Bliss bypass as a trauma response." There is so much sustained, ongoing grief and harm being experienced and witnessed in the world, as multiple genocides continue to be waged. This...

So, here are a few recommendations that have filled my heart with...

Hello Reader, With the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, the social media streets have been abuzz with various nuanced and complex (as well as not so nuanced, not so complex) perspectives around the long legacy of the British monarch. At the end of this newsletter, I'll share with you two videos I find quite useful around navigating the complexity surrounding many of those who have been affected by the legacy of colonization. I myself am a product of both sides of the equation, coming from an...
